After School Routines to Improve Family Happiness and School Success:  Last time we talked about bedtime routines, this week, let’s talk about how stressful afternoons can be! If you’re anything like me, some evenings I don’t even feel like cooking dinner, much less making sure the kids do their homework! Start by creating a list of things your student must do each evening.  The list can include things like: Come home, hug mom, eat a snack and take a break, do homework, take out trash (or whatever chore they can do: help cook dinner, dishes etc.…), free time, dinner with family, clean up, pick out tomorrow’s outfit and organize backpack, maybe make lunch if your student brings a lunch. Creating and then sticking with your routine consistently is the key to calm, productive afternoons.
