On April 29, Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a bill that changes the eligibility cutoff date for students entering kindergarten in the 2019-20 school year. Previously, a child was eligible for kindergarten in the fall of 2019 if they turned 5 on or before Aug. 1, 2019.

The new changes are as follows:

  • If your child will turn 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2019, you are eligible to apply for kindergarten.
  • If your child will turn 4 on or before Sept. 1, 2019, you are eligible to apply for IPS Pre-K.
  • If your child will turn 5 between Aug. 2 and Sept. 1, 2019, you are eligible to apply for kindergarten or IPS Pre-K. You may not apply to both.

As a reminder, the Enroll Indy OneMatch deadline for school enrollment for IPS Choice schools/programs ends Tuesday, April 30, at 11:59 p.m. You can apply online at https://enrollindy.org/. If you miss that deadline, you can claim available seats on a first-come, first-served basis starting June 3, 2019.
