Transportation Updates & Deadlines for 26-27 School Year

Greetings IPS Families and Staff:

We hope you’re having a fun-filled summer break with family and friends! As we prepare for the 2026-27 school year, which begins August 10, here are some transportation updates, resources and deadlines you need to know.

IPS Yellow Bus Riders

If your student has been identified as an IPS Yellow Bus rider for the 2026-27 school year, please complete our transportation opt-in process by the deadline of July 1, 2026. Completing the opt-in process will ensure your child has bus service for the upcoming school year.

How to Opt-In

The transportation opt-in is managed through the PowerSchool Parent Portal (either via the PowerSchool App or the website).

  • Direct Login: Access the portal directly at PowerSchool Parent Portal using the email address where you received this message.
  • Need Help Logging In? If you need to reset your password or are logging in for the first time, find instructions at IPS Parent Training.
  • Video Tutorial: Watch a step-by-step guide (with Spanish subtitles) at YouTube Tutorial.

Why Use the PowerSchool portal?

Beyond setting up bus rides, the PowerSchool portal is a permanent tool you can use throughout the school year to monitor your student's academic progress (including checking grades and report cards), view attendance records, and submit school forms. If you need assistance or require the full instructions in Spanish, please email the support team at ipspowerschool@myips.org.

IndyGo Student Riders

Starting August 1, IPS students who have been identified as IndyGo riders will receive an enrollment email from "noreply@justride.com" titled Welcome to IndyGo, plus the student’s school name. Students should use the email to set up their MyKey+ account. Students can choose to use the MyKey+ mobile app by following the email's step-by-step instructions to create an account and generate a QR code token, with additional guidance available on IndyGo's website

Alternatively, students who prefer a physical card must visit the Customer Service Desk at the Julia Carson Transit Center, 201 E. Washington St., from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday–Friday. To obtain the card, students must bring a printed copy of the Welcome to IndyGo email and a valid form of identification, such as a state ID, birth certificate, current student ID, or an official school attendance printout.

Thank you!
