Ms. Kristin Nester
My Name is Kristin Nester, and I am a special education inclusion teacher. I grew up in Maryland and have recently moved to Indianapolis from upstate New York to join the Indianapolis Teaching Fellowship. Before becoming a special education teacher, I worked as a biologist and then as an environmental educator. I studied the habitat distribution of rattlesnakes, helped to re-establish a population of ospreys, and worked with sea turtle rehabilitation. I have my bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and am currently working on my masters degree in special education at Marian University.
My career path has taken me on many adventures, and I’m very excited for my adventure at Shortridge High School. This school year I am working as an inclusion teacher for science, math, and basic skills development classes.
When I’m not at Shortridge, I enjoy travelling the world, hiking, kayaking, bird-watching, getting lost in a book, trying out new restaurants, and binge-watching Parks and Recreation on Netflix. My husband and I have two tortoises named Ludacris and Dr. Dre.
