Mrs. Donna Griffin
I am so proud to join the Shortridge staff as Student Media teacher and adviser. I am an IPS alumna who has been a writer, editor, and teacher for more than 35 years with a BA degree in Journalism and Sociology from Butler University and a MA in Sociology from the University of Texas at El Paso.
A native Hoosier, I have worked as editor and general manager of the Times-Post weekly newspaper in Pendleton, Indiana, and at newspapers in Central Indiana for 16 years, owning and operating my own weekly newspaper. I became a teacher in El Paso, Texas for 9 and a half years before moving “Back Home Again in Indiana” and teaching at my alma mater, Arsenal Technical High School for 9 years.
I am founder and CEO of Dani's Dreams Innovation in Education Corp., a media education non-profit founded in memory of my oldest daughter that connects young people of all ages to the world around them. I live in Greenfield with my high school sweetheart husband, David. We have two children and three grandchildren.
In my spare time, I write books, “Old Whiskers Escapes!” published by Cardinal Publishing that debuted in July 2018 and "The Twelve Days of Christmas in Indiana," published in 2014 by Sterling Publishing, New York with the board book edition published in fall 2017.
My goal for my classes this year is for at least 95 percent of my students to have their work published or produced in the 2018-2019 school year and to have a whole lot of fun while doing it!
