Degrees and Certifications:
Miss Carlie Vannatta
Hi there! I am Carlie Vannatta and this is my first year at Shortridge High School serving as a special education life skills teacher. I will be co-teaching life skills with Deb Melton and we will be sharing a classroom. I have a bachelors degree in special education from Olivet Nazarene Universtiy where I recently graduated from in May of 2018. I absolutely love working with high school students and find it to be so rewarding to help them become as independent as possible.
I love spending time with family and I am best friends with my younger brother and sister. I was a collegiate track and field athlete and competed in the hammer, discus and shotput. I love sports (both watching and playing), working out, drinking coffee, spending tiime outside, and spending time with friends and family. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time at the lake, hiking, exploring Indy and going to local restaurants and coffee shops.
This year my goal is for my students to learn and grow in their self advocacy and independent living skills. I hope that my students acquire lifelong academic skills such as money, time, writing and spelling skills. I hope that my students look forward to coming to school each day knowing they are always important and cared for.
