Ms. Hope Lane

I grew up in central Ohio and attended college at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  After graduating, I began my teaching career in my hometown of Worthington, Ohio where I taught middle school Social Studies. Since moving to Indianapolis in 2001, I have worked in Special Education and have also taught at Ivy Tech Community College in the Foundations of Success department. I began working with Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) in May 2014.

I am so excited to be starting a new JAG program at Shortridge High School this year!   I began teaching JAG at Northwest High School and have taught the class at Arlington High School and The McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology (MCIT) in Lawrence Township.  I am extremely passionate about helping students overcome barriers and help them to define what success looks like to them.

I have two wonderful daughters. Megan is a freshman at Anderson University where she is studying Secondary Education in Social Studies and French Education.  Julia is a junior at Westfield High School and plans to enter the field of medicine.

I love to travel and experience new cultures.  I have learned that while we all have very different experiences in life, at our core, we all need to be valued and have a purpose.  My goal is to be sure all of my students know that they are valued and have a purpose.  Education is the only thing that can never be taken from a person.  Knowledge is power and the tool to right the wrongs in society.
