There were two great coaching influences In my life.  My Father, Allen Katner, helped establish youth soccer in communities across Indiana.  He was the driving force behind Dynamo Football Club of Indianapolis, and he set the standard for educating young soccer players. He was inducted into the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame for his many contributions to the game and his adopted home.  I began coaching at Dynamo after playing soccer at the College of William and Mary, and spent 25 years Coaching at the club I grew up playing in.  It was a joy to be able to add to my Father’s legacy, and his passion for educating players inspired me to complete my U.S. Soccer Federation “A” License. I played for another Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame Inductee, Jerry Little, during his very first Head Coaching campaign at North Central High School. He later invited me into his staff as an Assistant Coach where I had the privilege of helping lay the foundation for four consecutive IHSAA State Championships.  Coach Little set the standard for high school soccer excellence, and I was fortunate to have been a part of that amazing run of form.  I’m excited to be coaching high school soccer once again, and I’m looking forward to working collaboratively with our players and families to continue to grow soccer at Shortridge.

I have been involved in sports my whole life. I attended Fishers High School and was a three-year letter winner as a member of the girl’s basketball team. During my senior year season I was named as an All-Conference honorable mention, was the team’s defensive MVP, and was an East/West All-Star. After graduating from high school in 2009, I continued my basketball career at Marian University in Indianapolis.

Following my freshman season at Marian, I suffered two back to back knee injuries and an ankle injury which hindered my ability to finish out my collegiate basketball career strongly but also gave me a newfound appreciation for life and began my love of coaching from the sidelines.

During my senior year I was a student assistant under former Indiana Miss Basketball and Purdue University standout, Katie Geralds. Having the opportunity to coach under such a knowledgeable basketball legend really helped me to not only expand my basketball knowledge, but helped me develop as a better person in general. I was then given the opportunity to come back after my senior year at Marian and work under Geralds as an assistant coach.

I graduated from Marian in 2014 with a double major in Management and Finance with a concentration in Human Resources. I also obtained my Masters degree in Finance in 2018. I am currently working towards my Indiana Teaching License. I am a fifth grade teacher in Lawrence Township. I have such a passion for working with our youth because they are our future! It’s important to instill a level of hard work, dedication, and goals in our youth.

As well as coaching at Shortridge, I am going in to my fourth season as a head coach for a girls AAU team. I started with my players when they were young and have helped them grow and develop over the years. Most of my players are in their freshman year of high school, all over the state of Indiana!

I am beyond blessed and excited to be working with the young student athletes of Shortridge High School. Go Blue Devils!
