I started playing tennis at about age 4 and at about age 8, I started playing in tennis tournaments.I have taught tennis throughout college and law school and returned to Indianapolis in 1977 to practice law – 38-year legal career. I am also the Co-Chair of the USTA Midwest Section Grievance Committee and a member of the USTA Constitution & Rules Committee. My Family includes Ellen M. Rice (wife); two sons – John, Portland, OR; and Edward, (wife-Hillary, and granddaughter-Frankie) Indianapolis, IN.

Running and athletics have been a passion of mine since I was young. I have experience participating in and coaching girl’s track, XC, and basketball. It takes dedication, self-motivation and hard work to become a successful runner. I look forward to watching my team grow, as not only strong athletes, but as academic leaders in the classroom as well.

I was born and raised in Indianapolis where I grew up playing soccer at Dynamo F.C. as well as North Central High School.  I played Division I Soccer at the College of William and Mary from 1986–1990, and served as a Graduate Assistant Coach the following season.  Since his return to Indianapolis in 1991, he has coached numerous youth-level club teams at Dynamo.  I coached several Indiana Boys State Championship teams, as well as three teams that earned the distinction of Midwest Regional Semifinalists. I served two terms as Dynamo Boys’ Coaching Director, overseeing curriculum and coaching development, as well as creating ethical standards for players, coaches and parents.  I also served as Assistant Varsity Coach at North Central High School, where I collaborated in laying the foundation for North Central’s historic run of four consecutive Boys State Championships in the mid-90’s. Jason holds an “Advanced National Diploma” accredited by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and has also earned his U.S. Soccer Federation “A” Coaching License in 2010. He currently works as a research scientist at Eli Lilly and Company, and has a Masters Degree in Psychobiology of Addictions Research. He is married with two children, both of whom attend IPS schools.

I have coached both boys and girls varsity golf at Shortridge for the past three years.  In that time the girls team has won consecutive conference championships, 2013 and 2014.  I also ran a Junior Golf Clinic designed to teach golf fundamentals to middle school students interested in learning the game of golf. I reside here in Indianapolis with my wife and child. We look forward to another great season.

Ms. Madeline Mason

Madeline Mason previously worked at Harshman Middle School for 6 years as the Spanish Teacher and School Culture Leader. She is beginning her first year as Design Teacher and Project Lead the Way leader at CFI 84. She previously coached volleyball for 5 years at the middle school level at Harshman. This is Coach Mason's first year coaching at the varsity level, and she is excited to not only to push the Shortridge volleyball program to the next level, but also to learn and grow alongside the players. In her free time, Coach Mason is a biker, yogi, and long distance runner. She has completed 12 marathons, 250 milers, and is currently training to complete her first 100 mile ultra-trail race.

I am a Graduate from Indiana University with Bachelor of Science in Social Studies, Minor in History, Economics and Psychology. I have been working as a Indianapolis Public Schools World History / Psychology Teacher for the last 5 years. I have been involved with Coaching Soccer / Basketball / Golf / since 2010. I have been involved in playing and coaching basketball all of my life. Throughout my time playing, I depended on my leadership qualities to be successful and coaching has allowed me to continue that path. I will teach my student-athletes the values that are pivotal on the court but are just as useful off it. I can’t wait to get the year started and starting the process of building a successful basketball program.

I come to Shortridge High School after coaching 7 years of coaching experience at Belzer Middle School, Indiana Elite (AAU), Lawrence Central High School and Providence Cristo Rey High School. After high school, Coach Fox attend Ancilla College (Donaldson, IN) where I played basketball.  I continued in playing career at Lee McRae College (Banner Ell, NC).  I reside in Indianapolis with my wife Jami and my two daughters (Layla and Jizelle), son Duke and English bulldog, Champ.  In my free time, I am a avid Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever fan while being a diehard Duke Blue Devil fan. I also enjoys motivational books/videos, coaching clinics and volunteering with numerous community organizations.

Mr. Jeremy McElroy

Jeremy McElroy began playing baseball at the age of 5. He went to Noblesville High School and then graduated from ISU with a music degree.  He toured for 10 years before changing career paths.  He works for Cummins, managing the audiovisual department.  He started coaching in 2005 and is excited to bring Shortridge High School Baseball team to a new level.  He resides just blocks from SHS and lives with his wife, Cathy and son Cole and daughter Ella.

After earning a Bachelors of Science degree from Indiana State University in 2004, I went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from University of Massachusetts School of Law (2007). While attending law school, I clerked in The Hague, Netherlands, at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. I have coached both boys and girls varsity golf at Shortridge for the past three years.  I reside with my wife and child in Indianapolis, and look forward to teaching the students the game of golf and life lessons.
