Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Art Education, K-12
I grew up being creative, curious, and artistic so the path to teaching came naturally for me. I am an Indiana native and a 2009 graduate from Herron School of Art and Design. For the past three years I taught Jewelry and Metalworking at Ben Davis High School and I look forward to bringing my experiences to Shortridge and entering into the world of IB.
To me education is empowerment. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and within the classroom I use art as a catalyst for critical thinking, mindfulness/reflection and personal growth. As an educator I believe my roll is to support students for who they are and to encourage whatever it is they are passionate about. For me those passions include but are not limited to: yoga, urban farming, and traveling. Although most of my daily life revolves around my 21 year old cat, Mary. Who’s passions are sleeping, eating, and reminding her human who is really in charge.
