Enrolling in IPS

  • You may enroll your student at your neighborhood school, the Office of Enrollment and Options or our new online enrollment system. A If applying for a choice or preschool program, an application must be filled out through our application service, SchoolMint, in addition to enrolling your child.

    The Office of Enrollment and Options is located at 120 E. Walnut St., Indianapolis, IN 46204, within the The John Morton-Finney Center for Educational Services. There is a free parking lot in the back of the building.

    Individuals that have questions about the enrollment process can contact us 317.226.4000, Option 2. Lines are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

    Special Back to School Enrollment Hours:

    • July 16 thru August 4, excluding July 22:
      • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
        • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
      • Wednesday
        • 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
    • July 22
      • Saturday
        • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    For families new or returning to IPS:

    New and returning students enrollment system:

    New students, will need the following:

    • Child's birth certificate
    • Child's immunization records
    • Guardian's photo ID
    • Proof of address (Examples: utility bill, lease agreement)

    Returning students, will need the following:

    • Child's immunization records
    • Guardian's photo ID

    Transfer

    • General Transfer (Out of District, Non-Boundary School)
    • For the following transfers, please come to the Office of Enrollment and Options and bring the listed documents:
      • Medical
        1. Physician’s letter (including medical issue, type of service recommended, reason for recommendation, physician’s signature, phone number and address)
        2. Guardian's photo ID
      • Child Care
        1. Proof of enrollment in child care
        2. Guardian's proof of employment OR proof of full-time school enrollment OR Impact Program participation
        3. Guardian's photo ID
      • Safety
        1. Supporting documentation (police report, physician's report, etc.)
        2. Guardian's photo ID
      • Employee
        1. Employee proof of employment
        2. Guardian's photo ID
