Enrolling In IPS
Overview
There is a two-step process for a student interested in attending an IPS school:
- Enrollment – Apply for a seat through Enroll Indy’s system.
- Registration – Fill out student information in PowerSchool* registration.
*Enroll Indy will email you the PowerSchool registration link after your seat is secured.

Step 1: Enrollment (Enroll Indy)
All families must enroll through Enroll Indy to secure a seat at an IPS school.
School Zones
Families may select any school in the same zone as their current home address. Click here to learn about the four IPS’ zones and the schools in each zone.
If families choose to attend a school outside of their zone, transportation will not be provided. More information about transportation eligibility can be found here.
How to Enroll
Option A: OneMatch Lottery Application
- Round 1: November 2025 – January 2026
- Round 2: January 2026 – April 2026
- Apply through Enroll Indy’s OneMatch Application.
Results of the lottery will be released after the lottery window closes.
- Round 1 results are released February 20, 2026
- Round 2 results are released May 1, 2026
After lottery results are released, families will receive the PowerSchool registration link to complete Step 2 of the process and register their student. Families that do not complete Step 2 within 30 days will be at risk of losing their school seat.
Option B: Open Seat Portal
- Available starting June 2026
- The Open Seat Portal lists all remaining available seats in real-time.
- Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Student STN or school ID number is required.
- Access the Open Seat Portal (must create or log in to Enroll Indy account).
After claiming a seat using the Open Seat Portal, families must continue to Step 2 of the process to register their student. Families that do not complete Step 2 within 30 days will be at risk of losing their school seat.

Step 2: Registration (PowerSchool)
Families will receive a PowerSchool registration link after securing a school seat through the lottery or Portal. This link collects all personal information needed to set up your student in IPS systems for:
- Class registration.
- Grade tracking.
- Teacher assignments.
- Other school services.
PowerSchool Registration support: Call 317-226-4000 and select Option 2.
Special Enrollment Requirements
The following schools/programs have special requirements and cannot be enrolled through the Open Seat Portal:
- IPS Pre-K Programs
- Theodore Potter 74 & Harshman Middle School (Dual Language)
- Sidener High Ability Academy & Harshman Middle School (High Ability)
- IPS High Schools (Grades 10-12)
- Shortridge IB Program (Grade 12)
