Enrolling In IPS

There are over 30,000 reasons to choose Indianapolis Public Schools, and we hope that you are ready to join the IPS family!

Enrollment services can be located within the John Morton-Finney Center for Educational Services. There is free parking in the lot located onsite. Individuals that have questions about the enrollment process can contact us direct at 317.226.4000, Option 2. Lines are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

Neighborhood School Registration

If you are interested in registering for your IPS neighborhood school,you can complete registration online.

If you are experiencing difficulties with PowerSchool registration, or have questions when filling out your information, please call OEO at (317) 226-4000 and select Option 2.

IPS Choice Enrollment

We are excited to announce that families can now view and claim open seats in IPS Choice programs in real time via Enroll Indy’s Late Enrollment Portal! Visit their website for information about using the portal. Some schools or grades have special eligibility requirements must be met, and therefore families will not be able to claim these seats through the portal.

Late Enrollment Basics

Late enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year is open June 3 through August 9, with the first day of classes for most IPS schools starting on August 5. This service is available for families who want or need a new school for the next school year. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:45pm.

Enrollment Forms

Here you will find helpful forms that will assist you with new enrollment, information verification and school transfers.

  • Change of Address: English/Español– Complete this form if you have moved and need to update your current home address.
  • Special Transfer: English/Español– Complete this form if you require a special transfer due to childcare, health/medical, safety/security or as an IPS employee transfer.
    • Must be taken to the Office of Enrollment and Options.
  • Residence Verification: English/Español– Complete this form to verify that a family (guardian and student) is currently living with another adult for the purposes of residence.
    • Must be taken to the Office of Enrollment and Options.
  • Custodial Statement and Agreement: English/Español– Complete this form to verify that a third party individual has custody of a student.
    • Must be taken to the Office of Enrollment and Options.

Special Circumstances

If you need assistance with

  • daycare transfers,
  • residence verification,
  • transportation issues,
  • special education issues, or
  • 3rd party custody

you will need to visit the John Morton-Finney Center at 120 E. Walnut St. where personnel will be available to assist with special circumstances.
