Zones

We are revising the district zones to ensure stability for students, empower choice for families, and increase recruitment opportunities for principals. This plan will also include improved efficiencies for transportation across the district.

Going forward: IPS is proposing four (4) zones which would begin with the 2024-25 school year. Each zone would include between 12 to 15 schools and programs.

The new zone map will benefit students and families by:

  • Providing a more equitable geographic distribution of high performing and high demand programming.
  • Growing and replicating schools with proven track records of success.
  • Addressing the inequities that may exist in the school proximity boundary policy.
  • Creating conditions that stabilize student populations and decrease mobility.

New Enrollment Priorities for Students/Families

If your school is not closing and you’re not in the last grade that school serves, you do not need to make a change to a new school within your zone but you are able to. All Pre-K students must lottery into Kinder for SY24.
