Public Comment Guidelines
The Board of Commissioners welcomes members of the community to offer public comment on topics related to the school district. The Board will receive in-person comments from individuals who have signed up in advance.
- Per Board Policy 0160, each speaker is allowed three (3) minutes to address the Board.
- Note: A three minute time limit for comments is approximately 420–500 words.
- If there is a large number of speakers, the time limit per speaker may be reduced. The Board will make an effort to inform those who signed up if the time limit is adjusted.
- Comments should be directed to the Board as a whole, not to individual members or staff.
- If you are unable to provide your public comment during your allotted time, you may submit your full comments in writing through the online Written Public Comment Submission Form.
- Do not share confidential information or discuss personnel matters pending before the Board that could compromise the Board’s impartiality or violate legal standards.
- The Board President, or presiding officer, reserves the right to end comments that are abusive, offensive, or disruptive.
- Disruptive behavior may result in a warning and, if it continues, removal from the meeting under board policy and applicable law.
- If you want to share documents with Board members, provide ten (10) copies to the Board Administrator in advance of the meeting or send via email to boardofcommissioners@myips.org.
Interpretation & Translation Services
- Interpretation services are available at all regular monthly Board meetings.
- If you need a translator, please note your request on the sign-up sheet. In addition, please submit a copy of your written comments to boardofcommissioners@myips.org, 48 hours prior to the meeting to provide time for translation.
