The Law and Public Policy choice programs at Arsenal Technical High School allows students who are interested in law, leadership and public policy, hands-on opportunities to experience legal, public and private sector career opportunities. This program challenges students to become skilled, thoughtful leaders and involved global citizens. The Mock Trial Competition Team and Student Court provide students with and understanding of dispute resolution and justice through experiential learning. Students will serve as an attorney, judge, bailiff, and jury member in an authentic courtroom setting located on the second floor of the historic Arsenal building. Courses in Government, Public Policy, Debate, and Law include guest teachers and speakers from Eli Lilly, Faegre Baker Daniels, the IU McKinney School of Law, and IU SPEA.
New Tech choice programs provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in the 21st century. This program focuses on citizenship, work ethic, presentation skill, critical thinking, and collaboration. Within the New Tech program, students acquire these skills through integrated group projects. New Tech teachers strive to develop students into the analyzers, evaluators, and creators who will be successful in the global economy. As seniors, students have the opportunity to enroll in college level courses if their high school course requirements are complete.
The Math/Science & Health Profession offers special courses of study in Math/Science, Pre-Engineering and Principles Biomedical Science. Students receive intensive instruction in advanced math and science. The Pre-Engineering program consists of a four year sequence of courses, which when combined with college preparatory mathematics and science courses, introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering prior to entering college. Approximately 15 college credits can be earned at Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI upon successful completion. The Biomedical Sciences course of study is a rigorous four-year sequence of courses in the Biomedical Sciences. All courses support the students in mastering the academics and skills to succeed in post-secondary education and Biomedical Sciences careers. This program includes biomedical engineering, disease research, human physiology, nutritional science, facilities design and management, environmental health and safety, health information management and analysis, industrial hygiene, public health care delivery, finance, regulation, and community services.
