Indianapolis Public Schools’ Facilities Utilization Taskforce has issued a report recommending a reduction in the number of IPS high schools. Most of the district’s seven high schools are at less than 50 percent capacity, which severely impacts academic opportunities for students and the district’s efforts to utilize resources more efficiently.

The Taskforce will present their complete report at the Board of School Commissioners Work Session on Tuesday, April 18 at 6pm at Thomas D. Gregg School 15 located at 2302 E. Michigan St. Indianapolis. This meeting is open to the public and members of the community can make public comment.

This is part of an extensive plan to gather input and feedback before making a decision on potential school closures. The district will host a series of community meetings to listen to public comments and concerns over the coming weeks. For full report, more information on the upcoming community meetings sites and locations go to www.myips.org/facilitiestaskforce.
